“Innovative designs for achieving natural ventilation on even the noisiest of sites”
This detail based CPD investigates a range of solutions to achieving natural ventilation on noisy sites. Features of this session include:
- Audio demonstrations highlighting the importance of effective building orientation
- Reviewing the use of screens, tire walls, earth mounds and gardens to block noise
- A review of attenuated vents; including thermal lines, damper and value engineering
- The method of attaching screens directly to building facades
The presentation includes a series of innovative case studies – including one Primary school sandwiched between two motorways and an intercity railway line that still managed to achieve natural ventilation. Alongside our case studies, we review key concepts learned through Mach Acoustics’ own research into the acoustic performance of open windows, screened facades and attenuated facades.
